HISTORY TODAY: The three co - Founder Of Cell Theory

Three Co - Founders Of Cell Theory

This section of this article will be a discussion basically on the three Co- founders of the cell theory. Here this paper shall be discussing basically on who are those that postulated the cell theory ( modern cell theory).
Matthias schleiden ( 1804 - 1881) was a German botanist and co - founder of cell theory, along with theodor schwann and Rudolf Von Virchow.

Born in Hamburg, schleiden was educated at University of jena,, but he developed his love and passion for botany into a full - time pursuit. Schleiden liked or habit to study plants structure under the microscope. So he became a professor of botany at the University of jena, there he wrote contribution to our knowledge of phytogenesis ( 1838), in which he stated that all parts of plant organisms are composed of cells,as it was discussed before. However, schleiden and schwann became the first to formulate what was then an informal belief as a principle of biology equal in importance to the atomic theory of chemistry.

Schleiden also recognized the importance of the cell nucleus, discovered in 1831 by the Scottish botanist Robert Brown and observed it's connection with cell division. Schleiden was one of the first German biologist to accept charles'Darwin's theory of evolution. He concluded that all plant parts are made of cells and that an embryonic plant organism arise from the one cell. Unfortunately, schleiden died in Frankfurt am Main on 23 June 1881.
It was gathered that muller was at that time preparing his great book on physiology, and schwann assisted him in the experimental work required.

Schwann observed animal cells under the microscope, noting their different properties. So, then schwann developed an interest in the nervous and muscular tissues. He discovered the cells that envelope the nerve fibers, now called Schwann Cell in his honor. Schwann discovered the striated muscle in the upper oesophagus and initiated research into muscle contraction, since expanded upon greatly by Email du Bois- Reymond and others. Soon after, schwann became something of an inventor, working on numerous projects including a human respirator for environments where the surroundings are not breathable. In his later years, schwann found growing interest in theological issues. However, three years after retiring, schwann died in cologne on 11 January 1882.
