Cell As The Basic Unit Of Life

One of most important and fundamental concept in biology from century till date is the cell which is said to be the structural and fundamental units of life. There is no doubt that living things ( organisms) cannot exist without the cell, why? This is because all life activities like feeding, reproduction, excretion, respiration, growth, adaptation,definite life span, irritability and movement are all carried out by the cell. As a result of this, cell can also be regarded as the basic unit of life.

Matthias schleiden ( 1804 - 1881) was a German botanist and co - founder of cell theory, along with theodor schwann and Rudolf Von Virchow. the image above represent Rudolf Von Virchow Born in Hamburg, schleiden was educated at University of jena,, but he developed his love and passion for botany into a full - time pursuit. Schleiden liked or habit to study plants structure under the microscope.
